‘Where nature meets the city’ is indeed where it’s at, at The Village Garden nestled in the heart of Eros Park, Windhoek.
Drawing inspiration from different tastes; classical, bohemian and an abundance of plants, Elzaan Otto and Deane Spall decided on this magical atmosphere for their brainchild.
“What sets us apart is that we strive to offer our customers an authentic experience; from eating wholesome delicious food under the trees, to having a freshly squeezed juice next to the koi ponds,”
Elzaan says.
The Village Restaurant has a reputation for its unique and diverse menu, specialising in the most mouth-watering breakfasts. One of the best dishes on the menu is the Village Benedict – a potato rosti with toppings such as salmon and cream cheese, mushroom and spinach and the most popular one; bacon and rocket served with two poached eggs and creamy hollandaise. YUM!
Sustainability and locally sourced ingredients have become increasingly important in the restaurant industry and The Village absolutely loves working with local suppliers such as Hochland farms, who supply them with local free range chicken and Urban Harvest who grows lettuce and herbs right on the property for the restaurant. The Village also makes use of Slowtown Coffee, which is a local coffee roaster.
Over the last year The Village has hosted numerous community events such as Salsa evenings, 29’ers, It Takes a Village and of course the very popular Sunday Market.
They also hosted the very 1st Good Food Market on the 29th of September 2023 and the next Good Food market will be held the 24th of November 2023.
Many diners today are looking for memorable dining experiences beyond just great food and at The Village you can expect a tranquil atmosphere nestled under the trees while listening to the birds and water flowing – a true oasis in the desert country.
Cocktails at The Village are delicious, and they have received several accolades for their wine and cocktail offerings. From the classics such as the Mojito, Cosmopolitan and Capiriani to something a bit more adventurous like an Espresso Martini or Carry me Home.
Our best seller however is our mimosa – bubbly and orange juice you can’t go wrong with that!
Double yum!
In the ever-evolving world of dining, The Village Restaurant adapted to the equally ever-changing consumer preferences and trends, especially in light of recent changes in food preferences.
“We believe in sticking to our values of offering healthy wholesome food; in my opinion healthy delicious food will never be a fading trend”,
says Elzaan.
The Village is probably best known and loved for its breakfasts and delicious coffee; the weekends are very busy so make sure to arrive early.
Book a table by the koi deck and order a flat white and a breakfast bowl with extra bacon. If that does not satisfy you, try the decadent carrot cake, which is absolutely to die for; and is the perfect treat to take home with you!
